Psychic Science
"Sooner or later psychical research will demonstrate to the educated world, not only the existence of a soul in man, but also the existence of a soul in Nature"
– Sir William F. Barrett (1844-1925),
physics professor and co-founder of SPR (Society of Psychical Research)
The science of psychical research began in the latter half of the 19th century with the formation of the Society for Psychical Research (SPR) in England. Headed up by physicists and college professors, this intellectual team risked their professional reputations and social livelihoods to determine the validity of paranormal phenomenon in a world literally split between old-world religion and mechanistic material science. The SPR (and later the American counterpart, ASPR) worked to provide a scientific methodology of measuring “occult” phenomenon and trying to answer the million dollar question: Does psychic phenomenon exist? And if so, how does it bridge the disparate gap between science and religion?
Founded in the hey-day of spiritualism, the SPR and ASPR worked tirelessly to authenticate telepathy, ghostly encounters, clairvoyance, and mediums. In many cases, they debunked and defrauded outright tricksters, but still found themselves confounded by people who defied explanation; some being ordinary housewives or working folk who, through rigorous controlled experiments, were able to display incredible psychic abilities. ***
What's the difference between
a psychic
and a medium?
A psychic is someone who has a developed "sixth sense" that allows him to “read” a person's past, present, and future. A medium is a psychic who can also pick up energies from spirits on "the Other Side" and act as a conduit to translate those messages to people currently living in this world. Some of the most recognizable psychic mediums today are John Edward, Gordon Smith, James Van Praagh, Alison DuBois, and Char Margolis.
A psychic medium can help bring closure to a person suffering from the loss of a loved one*. He can also tell you, based off your energy, what may be approaching in your future, in terms of finances, love, and spiritual growth. [*Note however, a psychic medium cannot be used as an alternative to the services of a professional grief counselor. If you are suffering traumatically from a loss, you are encouraged to seek licensed professional counseling.]
How is psychic information possible?
The psychic sense works in a like way as all the other five usual senses.
Take eyesight, for instance.
Wavelengths of light strike the retina. The retina, through a process of transduction, converts the patterns of photons into neuronal (electrical) signals. These signals zoom back into the brain’s visual cortex, where they are decoded and created into images that we see “out there.”
Similar to the wavelengths of light and the megahertz frequencies of sound, there is a subtle vibration of energy within the electromagnetic spectrum that could be called the “psychic signal.” This vibration, through continued practice, can be felt by the body. And just as a wavelength of light is turned into an electrical signal by the retinas, so are these subtle vibrations turned into neuronal energy and then decoded by the brain into visual images, feelings, and impressions. This process Jeffrey calls S.E.V.C., or Subtle Energy Vibration Communication. What is Jeffrey's background?
Jeffrey has vivid memories of going freely between this world and the Other Side from birth until the age of 5, and even has recollection of his life before being born. At age 15 he was reawakened to his spirit guides and the nature of spirituality. Shortly thereafter, he was trance channeling two of his guides, and experiencing recall of influential past lives.
In the mid-year of 2000, after seeing the impact of the work of both John Edward and James Van Praagh, he realized the nature of his own path and began doing readings at psychic fairs and participating in psychic forums. He moved into doing personal readings, and in 2003 began giving group readings to as many as 30 people at a time.
By the end of 2009, Jeffrey’s research into quantum mechanics and the published results of scientists studying the effects of consciousness and psi over the better course of a century gave him clearer insight into the nature of the phenomenon and an impetus to explore ever deeper.
Now Jeffrey prefers to call his readings “sittings,” as they were termed in the early 20th century, in honor of the scientific researchers and mediums that came before him.
No longer satisfied with being an “everyday psychic,” Jeffrey takes his time to methodically explore the process of reception and clarity, as well as exploring that nature of the metaphysical domain without the use of tarot cards or other devices. In this way, he acts as both a researcher and subject in studying psychic phenomenon, all while providing his clients with the hoped-for answers they seek.
[P.S. You may have heard of the 'Psychic Barber' Gordon Smith, but did you know that Jeffrey is the 'Psychic Chocolatier'? For a hobby, Jeffrey and his wife make the World's Best Peanut Butter Cups and Sea Salt Caramels, and not to mention lucious truffles that are out of this world!]
